A Slice of Life tribute starring my granddaughter Micah, age 17 months.
First, a quick lesson in Micah-speak:
Hey Mama – standard greeting for anyone, female or male
Na na na na na na – a favorite song lyric
All done (usually accompanied by hand motions) – I’ve had enough
now, without further ado…

not with writing
not with life
especially over here today

There is so much craft in this–I can hear music!– and it is a perfect way to close out the month.

Thank you, Amy, especially for hearing with your musical heart – music is Micah’s language, too. She adores it. A light-hearted and fun closeout to this challenge seemed in order, plus, these new photos are some of my favorites of her, ever. That girl! Thank you, dear other Fran, for celebrating this light-hearted moment with Micah and me. Every minute with her is one of celebration. It’s the great advantage and gift of being the grandmother – in my case, the advantage and gift of being Franna. 🙂

This needs to be published as a picture book for you to read to Micah! The repetition, the rhythm, the apt ending- it has got it all. Love the pics too. Thank you for your inspiring comments and slices, Fran. It’s been a great month with you!

Fran, the photos and the poem are both as precious as they can be. I love the rhyme and rhythm of your poem and the way that it flows. Those photos illustrate the poem perfectly, and she definitely has her Franna’s eyes. That last photo, though, they’re lying on the floor – all done! But I love how not with life and not with writing, which have just begun. Sweet!

Oh, Micah! That is so precious and beautiful. Thanks for sharing the key to Micah-speak. I love the photos that go along with it–“but don’t you take my shoes” That made me laugh aloud! “I’m ALL DONE” So fun! I hope you enjoyed your day with her.

How lovely is your final slice! A fitting end to another month of slicing. Micah is such a darling and she shines through your poem and photos with her wonderful carefree take on life. Good enough to ‘scrunchle’, that’s our family’s word for small people and animals that you just want to hug forever (not sure if it’s made up or not!) Thanks for another wonderful month of slicing and commenting!
