The Birdbath
We built it, we three
my sweet granddaughters and me
fountain birdbath, see
spray sparkling in sun
although birds have yet to come
awe, already won

I’m in awe of your wordplay! Your arrangement of words and the repeated sounds gives the feel of the spray fountain. Your photo is a big bonus as Micah is adorable!! Thanks for sharing!

I love the blend of seriousness and fun in this slice. Isn’t it amazing to see things through fresh eyes of your granddaughters?!

Fran, the words of the poem and the picture work together so beautifully here to capture the sparkle in the birdbath, the eyes, the soul. You are building a bird lover here, curious and fascinated with the world! What a blessing you are!

Fran, I wrote a comment early this morning but I looked at the clock and realized I would be late for my exercise class if I pressed the send button. But this gave me time to read your poem again. The birdbath with its fountain-like water shooter is amazing. What a team you have with you! Your rhyming is also a gem and Micah is adorable.

I’ll say! “awe, already won.” I love precious Micah’s sweet look on her awestruck face. The haiku was a special way to capture this moment in so few syllables.
