Love the whole poem, but especially the last two lines. Also, the rhymes don’t feel forced at all– it’s a beautiful love poem.

“The expression of every impression” is beautifully put. Scout is a good name for someone with a keen eye for detail. I’m guessing she writes as well!

Love her talent and her smile! My grandson Leo is becoming quite an artist. Tucking that away for a slice idea. Do you ever link up with Poetry Friday? Also I invite you to participate in the kidlit progressive poem. The link is in my post today.

Such attention to detail! How can she be so big? Love your poem and especially the title. It should be framed with the sketch.

Fran, wow, Scout is growing so quickly and turning into a beauty. What a great pic of her! Scout’s drawing of the bird is excellent and I’m glad she has a passion for drawing! Great tribute poem that reveals how Scout is maturing. Nice rhyme, rhythm, and all those short /e/ sounds in your second stanza. I like how you used the word “world” in your last line of stanza 1 and then your repeated “world” in your last line in your last stanza kind of like a full circle effect. I especially love the lines, the world, her own way, spark her young soul, and the world you are to me. Great post full of love. Thank you for sharing your joy.
When I see my house finches, I think of you. Did your house finches make a nest on your door, again? The other day I wished out loud for a bluebird to appear and about three minutes later one appeared. 🙂
Did someone like one of your sons or husband, make the beautiful bird figurine for you?

Thank you, Gail – we are so proud of our beautiful Scout! The bird figurine was a gift from a friend. The girls enjoy birdwatching with me – and you cannot know how I delight in knowing that the house finches bring me to mind! The appearance of your bluebird after you wished for it aloud reminds me of the day I prayed aloud for encouragement and immediately saw an eagle in a tree. Just profound.
