I ordered a vintage bird ornament earlier this month. When I opened the package, I found this delightful little treat from the seller:

I offer some accompanying haiku:
I said to myself:
Self, what shall we write today?
Myself thought a bit.
Let’s not overthink…
we know we got this. Just write
something short and sweet.
That’s all for now, folks…you and yourselves have a sweet day.

At the hospital after a knee replacement, a little laugh is the perfect thing… and I bet I might be sending someone to get butterscotch candy later on!

It is fun here how you take the haiku form and use it like a note to one’s self in the form of a candy. Enjoy the vintage ornament, and candy!

It’s that extra touch from a seller that makes such a difference. I’ll bet you will think of the butterscotch when you see the ornament a year from now. Short and sweet is the way to go – – you know the minimalist in me loves a haiku! This one brings humor and fun.

What a sweet treat–the butterscotch and your slice! I just lamented to my husband that my slices are always too long! I need to work on short and sweet. Thanks for the great example of how to do that.

A vintage bird ornament? How nice to receive a joke on vintage paper, too. Ooh, butterscotch candies exactly like the ones here always make me think of my grandfather, who would always save some for me. I like how you used your vintage paper and joke as a prompt for your sweet haiku.
