Evening settles early
streetlights flicker
air stands still, breathless,
expectant…
finger to her lips,
Autumn enters
trailing her twilight-sky kimono
in the fluttering, silhouettes
a skittering of little dark birds
or maybe
bats

Beautiful! I love your personification of Autumn – “finger to her lips” and “her twilight-sky kimono/in the fluttering.” I see her. Thank you!

There’s such a hush enveloped in an early fall evening…that’s what I was trying to capture.

Exquisite imagery, and I so welcome the arrival of this season.

I welcome the season also – the temperatures have been so lovely here. Hard to capture the sense of portent surrounding an early fall evening…
