are works
of heart.
They will
give you hugs
when you come
to their room
after their teacher
quits.
They will say
Thank you
for teaching us.
One student
might even
hug you twice,
saying
You can never have
too much love.

lit bits and pieces 
Fran, so much love here. Children have been through so much as teachers have these past few years and even before that. This poem is heartfelt and speaks to me. Your first stanza is so true. Your poem is a beautiful moment in teaching. Luckily, some children are resilient and can keep giving and hoping, sadly some are not. They have lost trust; they can’t figure out how to pick up their broken pieces on their own. I know you notice this, and I know, you know how to help children repair their broken pieces. You are one of these teachers:
