a pantoum
At the rainbow’s appearing
just stop to savor;
all the cares of this troubled world,
you can endure.
Just stop to savor
how the light bends into glory.
You can endure
the storms of life.
How the light bends into glory!
Look up and be awed.
The storms of life
for a moment, disappearing.
Look up and be awed—
all the cares of this troubled world
for a moment, disappearing
at the rainbow’s appearing.

Rainbow over my neigborhood after a storm last week.
Note the forsythia beginning to bloom.

Forsythia noted! Ours should be popping soon, as well. I admire the discipline of the poem structures you take on and still get powerful messages across. I like reading them a few times– once for the message and then more to figure out the rules of the form.

A gorgeous rainbow, and a colorful pantoum as well, all sprinkled with hope for the hard times and the promise that we can endure. I love the way the world is greening up, too. It’s such a lively color. Your neighborhood looks peaceful, calm, and blessed by a beautiful rainbow.

Such a beautiful ode to the rainbow! I love the symbolism of rainbows and if I see one, I text a picture to a few friends who have lost loved ones. You make me want to write a pantoum. I find this form a challenge!

Thank you for this reminder to look for the glimmers (rather than triggers) in life. I gotta admit, I’m guilty of being inundated by the rain, but these lines are exquisite-
”Just stop to savor
how the light bends into glory.”

Your words are so lovely and so true – if we can endure and wait out our troubles and life’s storms, the “light bends into glory” every time.

This is beautiful – the rainbow of course, but the poem is magnificent. I love the way the words flow and the images light the way!
