six going on sixteen
that’s how you look to me, girl,
making my days bright and evergreen
with your unique window on the world
that’s how you look to me, girl,
pondering deepest thoughts
with your unique window on the world
piercing the depths of my heart
pondering deepest thoughts
like what would life be without you
piercing the depths of my heart
where I will keep you always
what would life be without you
making my days bright and evergreen
I would keep you always
six going on sixteen
Fran, a Pantoum for this verse is such a snug fit for the sweet feelings – and the unique place to keep your granddaughter forever in the depths of your heart! The photo is just so gripping – the window on the world, the leopard print pants, and it looks like she might even be on the phone, feet propped, pondering. Reflective moments like these make us think – womanhood emerges all too soon!

I took the photo; it begged to be written around…the pantoum form seemed to call. I allowed myself to change a word or two in a couple of repeated lines. Poetic license! She has such a unique way of looking at the world and is growing all too fast – it pierces my heart – love this girl fiercely ❤
