Hummingbird

gogyoshi: a Japanese poem with a title and five lines

Hummingbird

All summer long, countless robins and doves
at least two broods of bluebirds and house finches
but only one hummingbird, appearing today in the pines
hovering before me like a magical fairy
casting a singular spell of joy
